The 2013 Dodge Dart is the first new car developed jointly by Chrysler and its Italian partner Fiat. Based on a Fiat design, Chrysler engineers disassembled the car and rebuilt the vehicle by adding more high-strength steel, while keeping the good bits such as electric power, steering, comfortable seats, Bluetooth and USB connections for smart phones, and more sound deadening material to make the handsome interior quieter. The Dart is also powered by a new, small engine, also designed originally by Fiat, capable of producing 160 hp. With the new eight-speed transmission added in, the Dart is capable of getting better than 40 miles per gallon. Prices start at $16,000.
