Cleveland to Baltimore, 1996 / Relo Rating: 8
Still-bitter Cleveland residents might disagree, but when owner Art Modell succumbed to a $50 million bribe and the promise of a new stadium from the City of Baltimore, he started the clock on what remains one of the more successful team moves on record. The fan-renamed Ravens have been consistently popular in the stands and impressive on the field, the one-two punch of any successful relo. And unlike some abandoned burgs, Cleveland came out okay: The NFL put a brand new team in town, one that retained the Browns name and franchise records. Eventually, it is hoped, the team will field a professional-quality roster, as well.
