Milwaukee to Atlanta, 1966 / Relo Rating: 9
The Braves pioneered major league sports’ debut into the American Southeast when they moved to A-Town; for that reason alone this franchise relo earns props. And while on-field success and financial stability came gradually, Ted Turner’s 1976 purchase of the team led to very profitable, much-admired and increasingly copied synergy between the team and his cable TV empire. Alas, Atlanta’s remarkably un-clutch postseason track record has kept this relocation from being a model of efficacious restlessness.
