Gazelles are fast. Cheetahs are faster. But men in Skechers may beat them both. After producing one of the more popular Super Bowl ads last year featuring Mr. Quiggly, a dog that (obviously) wears Skechers shoes, the footwear company is going with a cat theme for this year’s spot, which will air during the two-minute warning before halftime. The company’s teaser shows a man wearing Skechers GOrun2 shoes catching up with a fast-moving cheetah, but leaves the chase to be resolved during the game. They’re also bringing back Joe Montana in another ad scheduled to run during the second quarter, even though his previous ads for Skechers got a rather lukewarm reception. But considering Joe’s San Francisco 49ers are vying for a championship this year, bringing back the legendary quarterback may prove to be a smart move.
