Better known for showing armies of young women flocking to college-aged dudes oozing Axe body spray, this time the quirky company went with Buzz Aldrin. Yeah, the 82-year-old astronaut Buzz Aldrin, not normally known for his popularity among 20-somethings. In the ad, Aldrin heads up the Axe Apollo Space Academy (A.A.S.A.), which will send 22 people into space sometime next year. Seriously. It’s part of a series of ads showing that girls don’t want lifeguards or firefighters. They want bros who want to experience zero gravity. The ad will stand out among Super Bowl commercials this year simply because it’s not designed to be humorous or even that entertaining. It’s basically just Aldrin informing viewers how they can be orbited into space. Hey, we’ll sign up, but I doubt we’ll start using Axe.
