Creating nearly $2 trillion worth of goods each year, America remains a manufacturing powerhouse, but more and more, all that stuff is being made by machines rather than people. Of course that wasn't always the case. By the end of World War Two, nearly 40% of Americans were employed in the manufacturing sector, making everything from airplanes to textiles. Here's a look at that labor force, hard at work at the countless factories that once carpeted the American landscape.
