The iconic shipping giant has its roots in turn-of-the-20th-century Seattle, and debuted on the New York Stock Exchange a century later in November of 1999. The offering was a smash hit on Wall Street — initially selling for $50 a share, the stock shot up to a high of $70.31 on the first day of trading.
