At first glance, it looks like the same Winter White House the president has used every year since 2008. Instead, since the owners wanted that home for their personal use this year, the Obamas leased another in the same Paradise Point Plantation location down the street from last year’s house.
This property has the same dramatic lagoon entrance courtyard fringed with tropical flora, offering instant decompression for the world-weary. The home is positioned to overlook the Pacific to the left and the full length of Kailua Beach straight ahead. At the end of Kailua Beach, the Mokulua Islands can be seen off Lanikai. Kailua Beach has become well-known as of one of the most desired residential beaches in the world. The public section is located at the opposite end of the beach. On the north side of Paradise Point is the Mokapu Peninsula where Marine Corps Base Hawaii is located, and where the president enjoys bowling and works out while on the island.
