We love to ease the sting of poor economic times by digging into donuts, chips, and other junk foods, which all experienced sales surges in 2009. The trend continued last year, as well, with the number of doughnut shops from three big chains — Krispy Kreme, Dunkin’ Donuts and Tim Hortons — up 2.2% from 2009 to more than 10,000 U.S. locations.
