Sluggish demand and a sharp rise in the production of 3-D TVs has meant that the “price premium” (the difference in cost between 3-D and 2-D TVs) has dropped dramatically over the last 12 months. Last July, a 47- to 50-inch 3-D TV cost over $900 more than a 2-D. Now, the 3-D version runs $400 more.
