Ha ha ha Mark Cuban ha ha ha

No, I don’t really have anything against the guy. It’s just fun to beat him. Although, as I went to bed before halftime of the Mavericks-Warriors game last night (it was already 11:30 or so), I missed getting that satisfaction in real time. Matthew Yglesias may wonder how West Coast sports fans cope with such early TV game times; I’m living witness to the truth that it’s far harder being on the East Coast (at least if you have to get up in the morning).

Update: Oh, and I forgot to mention on Tuesday: Ha ha ha Roman Abramovich ha ha ha. Billionaire status can get you much. Just not, apparently, victory.

    After Motorola Deal Approval, Can Google Hardware Be Far Behind?

    Now that federal regulators appear poised to approve Google’s $12.5 billion purchase of Motorola Mobility, speculation is mounting about what the Internet giant will do with its newly acquired assets. And what assets they are. Once the deal is formally approved — an announcement could come next week, according to multiple reports — Google will be in possession of some 17,000 patents related to mobile phone technology. And it will be well-situated to enter the hardware business, which could mean that consumers will soon see Google-branded phones and home entertainment devices.

    In the wake of the disastrous and completely unexpected loss to the Warriors, we need to ask ourselves: “How could this have happened? Is something going on that has nothing to do with the talent on the floor? Is there a more sinister explanation than simply a great team being humiliated by a mediocre team? Is this a freak occurrence or is it an inside job.”

    I will repeat a rumor here that I heard recently. I’m not endorsing it. I am not vouching for its truth. I know that it is shocking; but, after all, people have the right to decide for themselves what information to believe or not.

    The shocking fact–or so it is said–is that Mark Cuban himself orchestrated the Maverick’s loss. The reason? To free himself from the financial obligation claimed by Don Nelson. Watch the game film. See the furtive glances between Cuban and Nellie. Observe the players looking over at Cuban before they take an ill-advised three-pointer. Did you notice that Cuban didn’t seem particularly shocked by the Maverick collapse–as if he expected it. As if, perhaps, he planned it.

    It is ironic that Cuban has aided in the distribution of “Loose Change,” a documentary that posits that the Bush administration orchestrated the demolition of the World Trade Center. This series is Cuban’s “Lose Change.” The Nellie money is Cuban’s Iraqi War.

    But then, it’s just a theory. You decide.
