A U.S. Circuit court judge on Thursday dismissed a lawsuit brought against Google by authors who accuse the search giant of illegally coping millions of books and posting them on the Internet without permission, ruling that Google making “snippets” of the books available for online searches is protected under fair use law.
“In my view, Google Books provide significant public benefits,” Circuit Judge Denny Chin said in accepting Google’s’ fair use argument, Reuters reports.
