Last year’s graduates of the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas in Austin got a memorable commencement program, but it’s probably not one many will be rushing out to frame. School officials apologized for what they called an “egregious typo” that identified the institution as the “School of Pubic Affairs.” The mistake went unnoticed until the programs had already been distributed. In an apology sent out by the school via Twitter, the word “egregious” was misspelled. Similarly, about 8,000 graduating high school seniors in Prince George’s County, Md., received diplomas last year stating they had completed an “approved progam of study.” The printer who made the mistake apologized and reprinted the batch at no cost.
