Holiday promotions usually consist of discounts on electronics, toys, clothing, and the like. Drivers in the market for new wheels can expect good deals on cars on Black Friday too. But a Cyber Monday discount for a new home?

Dominion Homes, a home builder with a large presence in Ohio and Kentucky, is taking the rare step of marking down prices on a dozen homes for buyers who take action today. It’s not actually necessary to close the deal on a home today. Instead, the builder specifies:

To qualify for Cyber Monday Sale pricing, between the hours of 8:00am and 8:00pm November 28th complete the web form for each home of interest or contact the sales representative listed and register for an appointment. It’s that simple.

Make an appointment for this home 10 minutes north of Lexington, for instance, and the asking price for the 3BR, 2.5BA, two-story house is $129,000, down from the original $149,035. Another home—4BR, 2.5BA, nearly 2,000 square feet, just south of Columbus—is listed at $169,900, down over $80,000 from the original asking price of $250K.

Dominion is advertising 12 homes in total, at special sale prices for 12 hours on Cyber Monday only. Will these homes be listed at their original prices again once Cyber Monday is over? That’s highly unlikely. We’re in a buyer’s market, and every house purchase is open to negotiation—before, during, and after any special holiday promotion.

The Cyber Monday aspect of this deal is a gimmick—fun and unique, but a gimmick nonetheless. If these homes don’t sell in the near future, chances are the builders will accept Cyber Monday-pricing bids, or even less, down the line.
