Earlier this year, a Massachusetts man received a worrisome letter, stating that his house might be foreclosed on. But he could avoid his fate — by paying $0.
Yes, the letter stated that his lender would seize his home if he didn’t pay, um, nothing by February 4. His credit score was even lowered. Frustrated, he contacted his local news affiliate, and they got him some answers. Bank of America finally got in touch with the man, reported only as “Mark” in the story, saying it was an electronic error.
Mark is still in his home. But hey, he got a $150 gift certificate! It’s yet another chapter in the ongoing weirdness that is foreclosures in this country today. (Does the man who foreclosed on Bank of America come to mind?)
