Big-Box Bestselling Book Battle Begins

Forgive the alliteration. Wal-Mart is squaring off against in a price war that has brought new books by best-selling author like Stephen King and Sarah Palin (OK, she doesn’t have a best-seller yet, but will soon) below the $10 mark.

For now at least, Wal-Mart is dropping prices only for orders at its website,, not in physical stores. From the WSJ:

“If there is going to be a ‘Wal-Mart of the Web,’ it is going to be,” said CEO Raul Vazquez in an interview. “Our goal is to be the biggest and most visited retail Web site.”
