Call it the war against Christmas lasting six months. The Scrooges and Grinches are surfacing early this year, mainly to complain that the winter holiday shopping hubbub is surfacing so early this year.

A recent Consumerist post asked readers about what bothered them most about holiday shopping season. The answers included the craziness and hype of Black Friday, unattractive women in ill-fitting elf costumes, Salvation Army bell ringers begging for charity, and Christmas music. But most of all, what people seem to hate is that we’re already discussing holiday shopping season in full force—and it’s still a few weeks before Halloween.

For that matter, many desperate retailers were already wishing shoppers a Merry Christmas in July.
