This Super Bowl, Cheerios will unveil a commercial featuring the same interracial family from an ad that sparked hateful comments in 2013.
Cheerios previewed their new Super Bowl 2014 ad on Wednesday, which features an interracial couple and their biracial daughter. The new ad features an African-American father explaining to his daughter–using Cheerios–that she’s getting a baby brother, as her pregnant white mother looks on.
General Mills was forced to shut down YouTube comments on its “Just Checking” ad in May, after it attracted scores of bigoted comments. But the commercial, which featured the biracial child trying to convince her father to eat Cheerios, quickly attracted about 5 million views on the video site, Adweek reports.
