Home Depot posted an extremely offensive tweet from its account on Thursday:

And then promptly took it down and apologized to almost everyone on Twitter.

And then fired the people responsible.

The end.

Or maybe not …

Can someone please explain this to me? Because I'm missing the offensive part? Please don't misconstrue this as ignorance, just confused as to what it is that is causing the offense.

To me, all goyim act like monkeys.  Instead of getting mad at an ad non-Jews should think about how their communities behave. It's been this way since the Torah was written.

For those of us who are boiling over with anger, just let it go. Life is too short to get all up in arms over words.

Arguing with racists is like arguing with a chair. These people are genetically flawed, they have absolutely nothing to contribute to society & NOT a thought in their primitive heads other than white racial supremacy...

I am deeply offended by Jamison commercials making all Irish people sound like drunks. Thats racist too.

the funny thing about most of you clueless folk, is that you are arguing whether it was funny or not, whether it was in bad taste or not, whether Home Depot should be at fault or the agency they hired should be, whether blacks should just get over it or not.  Guess what, it's the same crap you all were saying about the Paula Deen fiasco.  And guess what else?  regardless of all those arguments, Paula Deen lost millions.  And more than likely Home Depot will lose millions.  Clearly, most of you don't understand business in today's world.  If you do something stupid and you have a diverse and cross section of clients, you will pay for it with lost revune.  which means someone(s), high up in in the Home Depot chain is going to get canned.  As they should, because they allowed a horrible business mistake to happen on their watch.  Your opinion of the mistake is irrelevant.  Business IS SIMPLY business.  and in this case, they made a potentially very costly mistake.  It's on them.

File this under the category of all-too prevalent anti-social utterances known as "Tweets by racist Twits".

Of course, it not surprising that it was posted in Home Depot's Twitter account, as its CEO was one of the instigators behind a clandestine effort to portray Obama as inherently "unAmerican" during the 2008 election season.

Hmmm, needlessly imitating urban male street drummers and semi-perpetuating the myth that blacks are related to primates. Oh, but they're not!!! Look, the one in middle is different!!! Or is it? Yeah, not that funny.

sooooooooooooooo this begs the question?why did the two young  black men sit down next to the monkey and let them take their picture if this was so racist/such a big deal to everyone else???...................this is like kids today running around with their pants around their ankles trying to run down the street ......I just find it hilarious that they don't know the city bus isn't going to wait on them while they try to run holding their pants up with one hand ....

@lovelyfanatic

There's a long history, and enduring mindset, amongst some communities (see Moshe ben-Jacob below) that regards certain other groups/communities as less than human (e.g. apes, monkeys, savages, etc.)

From the perspective of one who is a member of a community long deemed by these depraved bigots/racists as less than human, I see a picture that challenges the viewer to distinguish one monkey/ape from the other...

That, lovelyfanatic, is what causes the offense.

@MosheBen-Jacob

Mr. Moshe Ben-Jacob is a bigoted prick who, despite his evident Jewish lineage, has taken up the mindset that fueled the human tragedy commonly referred to as the Holocaust which resulted in the systematic extermination of hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Jews and others.  Not dissimilar to Hitler and his acolytes, Mr. Ben-Jacob mistakenly believes that he and other adherents to the Torah reign above all mankind and exemplify the pinnacle of human communities incapable of exemplifying any behavior that might be construed as monkey-like.

Well Mr. Ben-Jacob, do a quick survey of the NY press pages over the past decade or two where you'll discover all manner of fraudulent, extortionist, child molesting, murderous, and various other "semian" like acts perpetrated by supposed adherents to the Torah.

Once finished Mr. Ben-Jacob, please accept my personal welcome for you to descend from your high horse and take your place amongst the huddled masses and imperfected communities of humanity.

@AndrewPetruz Bs race card crap, blacks are more racist now then whites. Who is in the white house little man. Whites put him there moron.

@davebward65 home depot laughs all the way to the bank, you have not seen their stock and PNL. They are way up in profits. they do not need the black community, they like to have but do not need it. Blacks who live close to a home depot will not drives miles to go to lowes. So your  statement is  wrong.

@NikP I am black and think it is funny, you need a sense of humor in life, not the race card crap.

@frackingisgood That is also why they get caught by the police, their pants are falling down, it is  hard to run trying to hold your pants to funny.

@frackingisgood Interesting how bigots always find moronic contrarian views they come up with, "hilarious".  What next dude? Are you going to tell us that you are not a bigot because you got a black "friend"?

@DennyCraneftw That is not true, the monkey is cuter. I am calling the APCA to complain about the the other two guys in the same photo. Al not so sharp Sharpton doesn't work with them too does he?

@TG28   it's easy to be not be offended when you are the majority, control the country's resources and don't have to claw your way out of impoverished urban areas to have a chance at succeeding.

I guess if it was the other way around, i would be insulted by being called a cracker or honkey.  but because i had the good fortune to choose white parents, insults bounce off of me much easier.

mak4374

@TG28 Try to guess why they deserve to be made fun off.  Perhaps it is because they try to justify hateful thoughts and actions with, "hey, it's just for fun!"

@siddiq450

The charge of racial insensitivity would seem to fit. But we have no way of knowing that the creator of this picture is racist (thinks black people are inferior, or wants to keep them down). If the picture were done with two white people, we would not assume that he was. Similarly, I was once on a playground when my son was scampering on the monkey bars with new speed and confidence. I said, "look at that monkey go!" Fortunately, he is white. But if I had adopted a black child, or had a black wife and biracial son, or was watching someone else's black child, my exclamation would be assumed by many to be racist. Yet it would probably be no more racist than it was with my white son. You could say to me, "you fool, don't you know saying that would sound racist?" -- but that would be about me being racially insensitive, not actually racist. I would, of course, be wondering if I were expressing unconscious racism, but apparently I would be wrong to think so, since in fact I said the same thing about my white son.

@siddiq450 Oh okay. See, since I've never even been around people who think in such a way, I would never have thought to make that connection. In my head I was going, okay there are two humans, and a guy in an ape suit.

I truly appreciate your thoughtful and nonjudgemental answer to my question, as my confusion was not born out of ignorance, only simply never even hearing an association like that occurring.

While I really do not think that the ad agency that made this did mean any sort of racist hate, maybe they should have done their research, and actually made a more relevant ad in the first place. As a Marketing major, I'm trying to figure out why in the heck this is even an ad that was posted in regards to Home Depot.

Thank you again for your response.

@davebward65 @TG28 Dummy who is in the White house and who do you think put him there. You must live in SF, i understand as a black man why you are attracted to us but it makes you bias, so your opinion does not count.
