A problem with the hybrid system inverter has caused Toyota Motor Corp to recall 200,000 of its hybrid SUVs. In total, 141,000 of the affected Lexus RX400h and Highlander models will be recalled in North America, 37,000 in Europe and 15,000 in Japan.

In an unrelated case, the company is recalling 106,000 Lexuses in North America and 59,000 in Japan due to a glitch in the engine assembly process, which could increase risks of engine stoppage. Toyota spokeswoman Shino Yamada said that no accidents or injuries have been reported, but declined to comment on the cost of the recalls.
