Tax Relief! 15 Freebies & Deals Related to Tax Day

Mid-April, long known for its looming annual tax deadline, has in recent years also developed a reputation as a season of giveaways and special deals from coffee shops, restaurants, movie theaters, and more. This year ushers in a return, so to speak, of deals related to Tax Day, some available well before April 17.

Here’s a rundown of 15 deals and freebies launched in honor of Tax Day 2012:

AMC Theatres: Bring in this coupon for a free small popcorn at the movies from April 13 to 15.

Arby’s: One free order of curly fries on April 17 is the reward being offered to customers who like Arby’s on Facebook.

Boston Market: Print this coupon and bring it into a Boston Market location for one free individual meal with the purchase of an individual meal and a fountain drink, on April 17 only.

Bruegger’s Bagels: Like this bagel and breakfast specialty chain and you’ll get a coupon valid for a Big Bagel Bundle—a baker’s dozen bagels and two tubs of cream cheese—for $10.40 (get it, 1040?). The offer represents a savings of up to $5, and it is good for purchases from April 14 through April 17.

Chevy’s: Bring in this “taquitos are better than taxes” certificate and get a free order of chicken taquitos on April 13 only. Also, on April 17, participating Chevy’s restaurants will pick up the taxes on all customer bills.

Chili’s: Bring in this coupon for a free appetizer or dessert with the purchase of an entrée, from April 16 to 18.

Cinnabon: Because “Tax Day Bites,” according to Cinnabon, participating stores will give away two free Cinna Bites mini cinnamon rolls from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on April 17.

Hooters: The Tax Day Special offer is 20 boneless wings for $9.99, dine-in on April 17 only.

HydroMassage: Hundreds of participating businesses are offering free HyrdoMassages—a no touching massage in which a special bed does the work—from April 16 to 20.

Marble Slab Creamery & Maggie Moo’s: From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on April 17, participating stores for the two sister chains are offering free sample scoops of new frozen yogurt flavors, including lemon crème, birthday cake, and forest berry.

McCormick and Schmick’s: In honor of Tax Day, the restaurant chain is offering extended happy hour specials, with “Bar Bite” appetizers priced from $2.95 to $5.95 from 3 p.m. all the way until 11 p.m. on April 17. Special tax- and government-related drinks will be available as well, including the Bloody Mary Tax Code, the Uncle Sam, and the Rummy Refund.

Office Depot: Make copies of your 2011 tax returns, and shred up to five pounds of documents free of charge anytime through April 16.

P.F. Chang’s: On April 17, all dine-in and takeout orders are 15% off, beverages and happy hour specials excluded.

Panda Express: Like Panda Express on Facebook and you’ll get a downloadable coupon good for a single serving of the Asian restaurant chain’s new Shanghai Angus Steak on April 17.

Seattle’s Best Coffee: During the “Great American Coffee Refund,” when you like Seattle’s Best Coffee on Facebook, you’ll get a free sample of Level System coffee—enough to brew a 10-cup pot at home. The offer is valid through April 17 or by the time 100,000 people claim their java, whichever comes first.
