This audacious adios has been circulating the tech blogosphere since 2009. The story goes that a freelance graphic designer — who managed to remain anonymous — created an “I quit!” message that looked like the error message that pops up in Macintosh operating systems. But the message is no run-of-the-mill warning. It reads “The designer you treat like s— has quit unexpectedly.” A line below that says, “Your company and other employees are not affected” and directs whoever the intended recipient is to click on one of the buttons, which had options like “renegotiate” where you might normally see a more banal command like “restart.”
