Does Biking to Work Inspire You to Write Poetry?

May is National Bike Month, and May 16-20 is Bike to Work Week. So if the money-saving, environmentally-friendly concept of pedaling to work will ever move you to write poetry, it’s probably now.

That’s convenient, considering that the SFGate’s bike blog is hosting a contest for authors writing haikus and limericks bicycle-related content, in honor of Biking to Work Week. Submissions due by Friday, May 13. Winners get assorted Camelbak bottles.

Here’s a limerick penned by one contest:

There once was a bicycle hippie,
Who thought riding on acid was way trippy,
He hallucinated a Buddah,
Oh wait, that’s the N Judah
In his new wheelchair he ain’t quite as zippy.
