The quote comes from Dr. Dave Zehring, chairman of a health care district board in southeastern Colorado. The Denver Post reports that the area’s Spanish Peaks Health Center employs just 2.5 doctors—but needs 9.6 file clerks to handle all the health insurance claims. Last year, the small clinic filed claims with 193 different commercial health insurance plans and 22 government insurance plans.
