Cheapskate Wisdom … That Puts the ‘New Normal’ into Perspective

“For my father, and the generation or two that grew up with him, there’s nothing new about the ‘new’ normal. In fact, it’s old hat.”

This is a good read: The WSJ’s John Bussey presents his 90-year-old dad as a fairly typical member of the greatest generation—and in this instance, we’re talking about folks who are great at pinching pennies and making do, whose definition of wants and needs are much different than today’s average consumer, and who avoids unnecessary purchases at all costs.

If you’re trying to get your finances into shape, a good way to start is to shop like your grandparents.
