The folks participating in The Great American Apparel Diet, who have all taken a vow to not buy new clothes for year, recently asked participants to weigh in on the question: What Have You Learned So Far?

Among the interesting responses in addition to the quote above:

I need to stop complimenting people on their outfits. Every time I compliment someone on their outfit, they have to tell me where they got it and how much they spent (or saved). I don’t want to know. Well, I can’t know. Not trying to be rude, just mute.

After doing a wardrobe inventory one woman realized:

• I have 45 dresses.
• Only 22 of them are immediately useful as daily wear, and fewer than that are work-appropriate.

And another woman realized this is indeed possible:

I can walk out of a store with nothing
