Soft drinks in all sizes will cost just a buck at the golden arches, starting around Memorial Day.

The special offer is expected to be valid on all fountain drinks, not coffee, shakes, or other special drinks, according to Crain’s Chicago Business. Considering that fountain drinks cost franchises very little (the liquid inside the cup is worth a dime or so), restaurants should still make decent profits. That’s especially the case if consumers are pulled into McDonald’s instead of 7-Eleven to cool off for their summer’s cheap, oversized, ice-cold drinks, and they wind up buying food in the process.
