Denny’s
Giveaway Date: Tuesday, February 9, 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Freebie: Original Grand Slam breakfast
Why? The promotion is a repeat of a campaign from last year, when the restaurant chain announced the special freebie promotion during the Super Bowl. Look for three Denny’s commercials during this year’s Super Bowl to pump up the campaign.
Auntie Anne’s Pretzels
Giveaway Date: Saturday, February 20, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Freebie: A pretzel of course—your choice of original or cinnamon sugar
Why? Seems like the sensible thing to do when you’ve named the date as Free Pretzel Day.
IHOP
Giveaway Date: Tuesday, February 23, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Freebie: Short stack (three) of buttermilk pancakes
Why? National Pancake Day. Note: The pancakes are free, but IHOP asks that you consider making a donation to support local children’s hospitals or other charities.
Ben & Jerry’s
Giveaway Date: Tuesday, March 23
Freebie: Ice cream cone
Why? Free Cone Day. Warning: Not every B&J location is participating. Search for shops that are here.
Interesting: Apparently, Tuesday is the consensus favorite day of the week for freebie promotions. That can’t be a total coincidence, can it? Something tells me that marketers have thought this through. With Tuesdays, perhaps, the businesses are guaranteed to get good coverage in the media the weekend before, and yet, because it’s in the heart of the hectic work week, they won’t have to give away quite as many freebies as they would have on a weekend.
