To attract customers at a time when many are inclined to eat at home, restaurants are offering big happy hour discounts (and adding more happy hours period), slashing the prices of margaritas and wine, and introducing new drinks priced especially for the recession—like Benihana’s Scorpion punch, a mix of vodka, sake, and Southern Comfort that comes in a bowl and serves four for just $7.

Among the restaurant chains that have scaled back drink prices are Outback ($3.50 for a margarita, down from $4.75), Chili’s ($3.99 for margaritas, down from $4.99), and Bonefish Grill ($5 wine and mixed drinks all day, down from as much as $8.40 for specialty cocktails). Read more at the WSJ.
