We interrupt our regularly scheduled programming to bring you important news about bacon storage

This is off topic—although I guess it fits well with the new austerity—but I just blew 15 minutes on a friend’s mom’s website that tells me important things like how long is safe to keep an open bottle of blueberry preserves in the fridge (answer: one year). Or how about an open package of bacon? (3-5 days in the fridge, 1-2 months in the freezer) Gin? (indefinitely. yay!)

Anyway, it’s called Still Tasty. The creator is a retired food safety expert with the Canadian government. And I have received no goods or services in exchange for this endorsement—unless you count that open container of capers that I was thinking of chucking but will now hold onto for six more months because I can.

And while I’m on the subject of frugal behavior, Bargain Babe Julia Scott very politely hinted a while back that I might want to mention her fine consumer blog sometime. So I’m mentioning it. And check out those deals on returned Lands End items at Sears!

@yogi: Yeah, I’ve let it go much longer than that, too. Maybe she’s talking about Canadian bacon. ;-)

This is probably one of the best bachelor resources I’ve ever come across. 10 year old rice — no problem!
