The voting news

Because it is required of bloggers to declare that they voted and tell how long the line was, I hereby declare that I voted and that the line outside the P.S. 166 polling place in Manhattan was at 10:15 a.m. longer than I’ve ever seen it (stretching about half of a very wide Upper West Side block), but that getting from the end of the line to the polling booth only took half an hour. Curious Capitalist Jr. did all the actual work of voting–pulling levers, mostly–but he did so as my surrogate and under my supervision. Afterwards we hit the P.S. 166 PTA bake sale where I got a red velvet cupcake with white and blue frosting and a Pledge of Allegiance bookmark stuck into it with a popsicle stick and CC Jr. got a bag of chocolate chip cookies.

In observance of the Poniewozik rule, I hereby disclose that I voted for Obama. But in keeping with the nonpartisan, nonjudgmental nature of this blog (except perhaps where Ari Fleischer is concerned), I wish to emphasize that I think it’s totally fine to have voted for McCain, Barr, Calero, La Riva, McKinney or Nader.

Also, I’m taking advantage of the Election Day lull to get some long-delayed editing done on my book. Should be back to full-strength blogging tomorrow.
