Slaves of the Colbert-industrial complex

So why is it appalling when the kid sees an ad for sugar-infused cereal on TV and asks us to buy some, but it’s totally okay to buy the sugar-infused ice cream that Stephen Colbert has been flogging on TV and feed it to said kid?

Because it’s all meant ironically, of course! (I can’t wait for the Colbert-logo Hummer.)

Spain’s Prime Minister Warns Country Is in Danger of Being Shut Out of Markets

MADRID  — Spain‘s prime minister warned Wednesday that the country faced the danger of being locked out of international markets as investors continued to fret about the future of the euro and Greece’s place in the 17-country eurozone.

“Right now there is a serious risk that (investors) will not lend us money or they will do so at an astronomical rate,” Mariano Rajoy told Spanish lawmakers.

Is this meta-irony? (sorry but that’s a really dumb question, and well beneath your usual standards.)

If so, its a brilliant strategy to get noticed by Colbert and drive people to a relatively low-traffic blog on a site run by a high-profile media organization. I can already hear him tying this into the Imus controversy, and railing about how Time Inc. is trying to violate his free speech!

(the huge picture is a great touch — much better for showing on TV than just the blog text!!!)

Oh no, you’re onto my diabolical scheme!

Actually, my son really was eating some Americone Dream the other night, it struck me as funny, and I figured it would be an easy and halfway amusing blog post.

But I certainly wouldn’t mind getting put On Notice. You got Colbert’s e-mail?

  • paul_lukasiak

well, I couldn’t find an email address, but I did alert the Colbert Report message boards to your nefarious doings…

    Oh. My. God.

For those who didn’t click through, here’s what Paul posted on the Colbert Report message board:

Time, Inc Blogger Trying to Imus Stephen

That’s right Nation. Some low-down dirty “economics” blogger at Time, Inc. is trying to get Stephen taken off the air for exercising his free speech rights!

This tool of the liberal media doesn’t think Stephen should be talking about Americone Dream… because it has SUGAR in it, and our impressionable home schooled children who rely on Stephen for insight into what is really going on in the world might eat some of it.

Well, Mr Granola-Crunching Liberal Media Pimp, I have news for you. Stephen Colbert isn’t going to be intimidated into censoring himself from talking about wholesome, American-made, protein packed food like Americone Dream — and you shouldn’t be blaming him for your Dr. Spock-permissive society-touchy feeling child rearing failures. If you don’t want your child to express his patriotism by consuming the creamy goodness of Americone Dream, teach your kid some discipline!

End of Paul’s message-board post, back to me:
I think I’m coming to love post-Walter Cronkite America.
