Great piece. A couple thoughts that need to be shared. Most mental Illnesses are manageable but they takes a lot of work and a huge committment on the part of the afflicted employee. My experience is most mentally ill people do a poor job of managing their health, partly because most mental health practicioners are improperly trained. Second thought, people with mental illness are some of the most powerful, toughest, talented, creative, sensitive and humble people on the planet when they are taking care of themselves. Whatever room you are in, mental illness is the pink elephant and the 800 lb gorilla in the room. This is a subject that is not going away and a movement where progress has been made and will continue to be made.
